There has been a shop/bar on this site for longer than anyone remembers.
The two story home and public bar was restored By Michael McCathy in around 1905 selling food and providing refreshments for those traveling along this outstanding headland of the Sheep's Head Peninsular. Reaching out over 25km into the Atlantic Ocean, this peninsular is West Cork at it's best.
Another Michael re-opened the White House over 10 years ago to walkers
of 'the sheep's head way' and visitors from all over the world.
Walkers and day trippers can enjoy fine, fresh, local grown food for lunch, whilst enjoying real coffee and a fine selection of tea's with a slice of cake in the relaxing atmosphere of the forma White House Bar or take in the splendid blooms out amongst the café garden from April until the end of September.
